I have a property
obsession.

Hello, I’m Emma.

Freelance real estate copywriter extraordinaire, a type of painter and a hater of clichés. Property writing is my thing. A hefty chunk of my weekend is spent sticky-beaking open homes and checking out the latest auctions.

During the week, when I’m not writing, I’m usually found hiding in solitude browsing property listings and flicking through home magazines. It’s not merely about getting away from my noisy kids (though, that’s a benefit).

It’s about brushing up on the most current
approaches for the hottest real estate
writing this side of Melbourne.

Property writing is my bread and butter.

It’s my obsession, my pash, and, truth be told, it’s in my blood. Literally in my blood. I was born into a family of real estate agents. My father was one, my brother is one and my sister is a property manager. I live and breathe real estate. I’ve been attending property auctions since before I could walk!

As a small child growing up, my father would take me and my siblings to every one of his auctions. Every. Single. One. The real estate walk and talk became second nature. Family get-togethers would be a real hoot. Exclusive listings, counter offers, reserve price, settlement date. I wondered if any of that lingo really mattered

Maybe, maybe not.

What I did learn was that in a world full of real estate clichés and never-changing property descriptions I wanted to be part of a movement. A shift to a new way of selling houses. I wanted to write marketing materials that grabbed the attention of the reader. That spoke to the reader, describing the place like it was already their home. I wanted to humanize the experience.

So, off I went to RMIT University to study a Bachelor of Advertising. I then cut my teeth at one of Melbourne’s most prestigious real estate agencies and continued to work in their Marketing Department for more than 10 years. That decade taught me everything there is to know about being a real estate content writer, as well as how to make a mean cup of tea. I’ve also completed NewsLimited Award School, Copyschool and the Centre for Australian Writer’s Freelancer Stage 1 and Writing for Real Estate courses.

The marketing acumen, real estate know-how and my real-world property experience makes me one of Melbourne’s most experienced real estate copywriters.

Writing paints the picture. It entices the reader to look further and picture their lifestyle. Viewers will imagine the property being their home and creating happy memories. My clients love my copy because it’s carefully crafted to be creative and persuasive. It’s original and concise.

My writing avoids the clichés (“Location location location” – No! What a snooze fest).

Instead, it’s evocative with a hint of emotion.

I make an emotional connection as this plays a huge role in the house-buying decision. Photos and floorplans work but the right words take it to the next level. My copy adds a zing to the step of buyers, drives their interest, and drives your sales.

As a real estate writer, I’ll take your copy from yawn to yes please!

My point of difference? I write hot property copy. Interested?

Original

You want the home you’re selling to be at the top of the buyers list of properties to view

A copywriter will present the home in the best light to make it the ‘must see’ place. Tell its story. Carefully crafted words will bring a passionate punch to the photos and floorplans. Buyers will imagine the lifestyle that’ll get them reaching deep into their pockets.

Way to go.

Top-Notch

The ad alone won’t cut the mustard. Vendors, buyers, landlords and tenants want an agent who knows their stuff, makes their lives easier and has a quality reputation.

A copywriter will not only write words for your listings, they can create content for your website, brochures, bio, blog posts, social media, emails and newsletters.

Boy, do they know words.
